A SUCCESSFUL ART FAIR
The 8th ART INTERNATIONAL ZURICH will be held from 19 - 22 October 2006 at the Kongresshaus Zurich. This year's main focus is based for the third time on visual art from outer Europe. The 8th International Art Fair Zurich presents as highlight Young Korean Art and a selection of galleries from 20 countries.
South Korean contemporary art scene will be present for its 6th time. Among others Minjoo Lee and Jung Galleries from Seoul, for its 2nd time Jay+Hari's Gallery from Jejung and Simyo Gallery, Seoul.
A special presentation of 10 European sculptors and 3D artists, among these the installation artist Susanne Rottenbacher (Rottenbacher and Rottenbacher, Berlin) with her new work, the installation "colour rooms" and the swiss sculptor René Düsel with his "broken piano"-neon installation (Artleasing Gallery Vaduz).
NKE Fine Arts Switzerland shows in a retrospective historical photographs from documenta artists of the 1970s, among artists portraits of Joseph Beuys, Wolf Vostell, Alice Aycock, Alan Sonfist, Ben Vautier, Harry Kramer and Andy Warhol.
KunstWerk Gallery, Wiesbaden and NKE Fine Arts Switzerland presents "Jeannie's heritage or the magic in art": a photo-Installation by Christine Straszewski including photographs showing Joseph Beuys with his installation "honey pump" at documenta 6 in 1977 (photographs by Art Wolf, NKE Fine Arts).
Gallery Art Distribution Basel will show to the Zurich public for its first time the US-Shootingstar Steve Kaufman. Kaufman has been working as assistant with Andy Warhol and received from the Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam in 2000 the order to paint a modern portrait of Vincent van Gogh.
Gallery Oliver Hunter, Vienna will present a selection from the Estate of the Kokoschka student Prof. Rudolf Ullik (1900-1996).
Among the large number of international galleries are epelde and mardaras - Bilbao (showing works by Juan Chillida and Jose Luis Zumeta), Galería Kunstmann - Palma de Mallorca, Bassols-Balmes - Barcelona, Artguion XXI - Buenos Aires, Bruno Publishing - Tel Aviv and New York, Hag Art Foundation - Bucarest, Galerie Jeanne Develle - Paris.
ART INTERNATIONAL ZURICH shows modern art of diverse styles in a central city location to a broad public. The annual fair is located in the prestigious business district close to the famous Bahnhofstrasse and in walking distance to the major galleries and museums. The fair aims to promote communication, sales and contact between the exhibitors and the business, media, collectors and the public.
