Since Gallery Jung opened at KwangHwaMoon, the cultural heart of Seoul in 2001, it held many invitational and special exhibitions every year, and put force our strength to develop for the arts with young and middle aged artists. Especially, it has been bringing up young artists, whose works are alternation for Korean traditional paintings' techniques with contemporary arts, toward not only an internal of the country but also the world.
JungWon, as the multi-cultural place, consists of Gallery Jung and Space Won, and means "garden.” This indicates the garden in the complicated city of Seoul, and is busy and existing in the modern people's minds without belonging to anywhere. The cultural place, JungWon, which has the both exhibition and performance spaces, tries to desire for the artistic accomplishments for modern people.

When Gallery Jung had the first exhibition with the subject of a crane in 2001, a famous dancer of the crane showed his performances at the same time. Eunah Cho

Born in Seoul, Korea
Solo Exhibitions: 6 times (Seoul, Toronto Canada)
Group exhibitions: 160 times (Korea, Japan, Canada, USA, Middle East Asia and Europe)

Artist's note:
"My painting is not an outward representation of a thing but a presentation of "the stream of consciousness through image”. The most significant element in an abstract mode (as a way of presentation of pure behaviour) is the repetition of action. Based on this principle, I filled up canvases with various lines, contrasting colours and diverse forms. For more deeply organized composition I cut my ready-made colour papers and then reorganize them. The experimental forms and the exploration of the plastic elements constitute both of the inside and the outside of my work. So the inseparable relation between content and forms will be the most cardinal point of my paintings which I pursue."

He has held eight solo exhibitions, participated in a total of 100-odd group exhibitions, written numerous theses including the one titled "Relationship between Painting and Poetry in Oriental Paintings”. He was a judge on the awarding panel for the Korea Art Grand Festival and now is working as a professor in the College of Art, Dongguk University. Just as a Zen Buddhist obtains a new viewpoint from religious paradigms, he comprehends the essential characteristics of a substance and expresses it in his visual language. With the implements and the techniques borrowed from the conventional expressionism of ink-and-wash painting, his bold and liberal brushworks bring the figures, simplified and ummarized, up on the sheet.

The composer focuses on the inside in face figure. It is no different from illumination theory of full figure, generated for a long period of time as oriental portrait drawing theory, which not only describes the facts but also draw hidden spirits such as personality, character, and dignity of the object. The object becomes one image which reflects herself, quietly staring at herself.
