About PRAXIS ART
"Reflecting the long, rich heritage and the extraordinary energy of the vast region collectively known as Latin America, Praxis International Art proudly represents a select group of renowned modern masters and important, emerging contemporary artists from some of the world's most diverse and dynamic cultures. From the brushy, enigmatic, memory-soaked vistas of Uruguay's Ignacio Iturria to the dream-fantasy visions of Argentina's Mario Perez, to the history-evoking tableaux of Argentina's Ana Fabry, Praxis International Art represents the entire world of Latin American art through its branches in Buenos Aires, New York, Miami, Mexico City, Santiago and Lima.
Praxis International Art, with its galleries in New York and major cities of the Americas, and the related Praxis International Art Foundation, were founded in Buenos Aires in 1977 by the Argentine businessman, philanthropist, collector and art patron Miguel Kehayoglu, a senior member of Argentina's national association of art dealers. The Praxis mission: to bring the compelling creativity and imagination of Latin American modern and contemporary art forward to a worldwide audience in museum-quality exhibitions throughout its network of galleries. With its wide reach and the broad scope of its programming, Praxis International Art has become the source for works in a variety of media - paintings, sculpture, drawings and prints - by established Latin American masters and by the region's most important new talents.
In a world of collapsing borders and overlapping cultures, the Praxis Collection showcases the work of some of Latin America's most original painters, sculptors and printmakers in an informative, illumination, historical-critical context. Through its gallery shows and its participation in a range of important annual art fairs, and through the support of its artists at leading international expositions and biennials in Europe, the Americas and Asia, Praxis International Art is proud of the role that it plays in bringing together artists, collectors, critics and art enthusiasts around the world for a deeper understanding of Latin American modern and contemporary art in all its richness and diversity."
